Who knew that the same toxins that raised the alarm about water bottles leaking contaminates a few years ago (BPA) are still in your personal body products? Phthalates are a group of chemicals used for softening everything from formed plastic to your skin. Phthalates have been proven to be hormone disruptors since they act like estrogen in the body. Men with higher Phthalate levels in their bloodstream have decreased and damaged sperm. In animal studies it causes birth defects, premature births, as well as the development of behavioral problems.
If you have checked out the labels of your personal care products, then it's highly likely that you have seen a few parabens. Parabens allow skin care products to survive for months or even years in your medicine cabinet; however, they also enter your body through your skin when you use these products. They can mimic hormones in the body and disrupt functions of the endocrine system!
Brushing your teeth is a good thing, right? Ummm. It depends if your toothpaste has triclosan in it. Triclosan is a hazardous antibacterial compound that is found in dish soaps, hand soaps, body washes, deodorants, cosmetics, disinfectants, and yes, even toothpastes. It was first registered by the EPA as a pesticide!! It’s still used as one and is used in the making of adhesive, carpeting, caulking compounds and rubber. This is what we are putting in and on our bodies, and a build-up of this poison can be found in the urine of 75% of Americans, even though new clinical trials link it to heart disease and heart failure due to interference with muscular tissue function, as well as cancer.
These are just THREE of the many toxins that are probably in your house right now. That should scare you. It sure does me!
It just shouldn't be like this - there are safer alternatives out there, available to everyone, and they will not hurt your family!
